Dinosaurs

Two impressive dinosaurs created by Coburn Topiary Sculpture are a great success with visitors and have become the picture spots everyone imagined. They are used in city promotions and are often featured on Japanese television.

These are Duckbill Dinosaurs of the genus Parasaurolophus. They were created for Sakae Park in Nagoya, Japan. Dorio towers over park guests at 17 feet high and 34 feet long. Yo-Yo is 9 feet high and 16 feet long.

Planting Dinosaurs

Plants were selected from Japanese field grown stock of Podocarpus macrophyllus, the “Japanese Yew”’. We chose a species that would become large enough, respond well to pruning, and tolerate semi-shade conditions. Specimens measured approximately 10 feet in height at planting. The bases of the sculptures are enhanced with mixed cycads, ferns and grasses, suggesting a prehistoric landscape.

Dinosaurs in the Landscape

Large, powerful, and fascinating, our dinosaurs are natural focal points ideal for many settings. They fit nicely into children’s gardens, sculpture gardens, natural history museums, science centers, or private gardens. As sculptures, their structural appeal is appreciated fully, or they may be used as living sculptures, with a variety of possible planting schemes. Using computer-aided design software and our computer-driven plasma cutter, these dinosaurs can be scaled to the right proportions for your project needs.
